Il Canada fa saltare il banco e si prende due podi pesantissimi ai Mondiali di Sankt Moritz. Nel superG maschile la medaglia d’oro è stata vinta da Erik Guay, con bronzo a Manuel Osborne-Paradis. Affonda l’Italia che non va oltre la nona e undicesima posizione con Dominik Paris e Peter Fill.

LA GARA – Vincent Kriechmayer parte con l’1 e rimane in testa a lungo, nessuno riesce a passarlo, fino alla discesa del norvegese Kjetil Jansrud, che dopo il brutto fine settimana di Garmisch, torna prepotentemente al comando. Sembra aver fatto la gara perfetta e, invece, il suo largo vantaggio acquisito nei confronti dell’austriaco non basta. Poi scende Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, che si inserisce appena lì dietro. Sembra ormai fatta: doppietta norvegese e invece arrivano le sorprese. Erik Guay sfodera una grande prestazione e, come si dice in gergo, ammazza la gara. E poi un’altra grande sorpresa, che si chiama Manuel Osborne-Paradis e che festeggia il bronzo nel giorno del suo compleanno.
L’ITALIA RESTA A GUARDARE – La squadra italiana anche oggi resta a guardare. E lo fa dalla decima posizione. Dominik Paris sbaglia pesantemente due linee sui salti e finisce nono, Peter Fill è undicesimo, «una gara che considero in parte positiva perché in superG non avevo buone sensazioni». Diciottesimo Mattia Casse e ventitreesimo Emanuele Buzzi.
GUAY DUE PODI, DUE ORI – Il canadese Erik Guay, classe 1981, è salito due volte sul podio di un Campionato del Mondo. E in entrambe le occasioni ha vinto: oggi a Sankt Moritz e nel 2011 a Garmisch in discesa libera.
I DELUSI – Tra i delusi, oltre agli italiani, c’è sicuramente l’altro norvegese Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, che prima ha assaporato la doppietta, poi il terzo posto e, invece, è finito quarto, a tre centesimi dalla medaglia. Cose che bruciano. Sesta posizione per Alexis Pinturault, subito dietro a Kriechmayr.
